We have yet to find an ideal way to move money to Kenya. Often we recommend PayPal because of PayPal’s relative speed and excellent security features. Bank transfers are also an option. Please allow up to 5-10 days for most transfers.
Although we would love to, we cannot guarantee a rate or a room until payment is made.
We donate a portion of our revenues to The Shela International School, a one-room schoolhouse that provides a well-rounded education and encourages kids K-8 to think independently. We also provide matching funds to the Lamu Womens Saving Circle through our non-profit, Fatma's Roof. We urge you to include a donation to either one of these forward-looking organizations when you book with us! Please contact us for more information.

Happy? Not So Happy? A few words on refunds and tipping:
If for any reason, you decide not to remain for the entire length of your stay, we will do our best to secure a refund. Please be advised, it's not always possible, particularly at Christmas. European hotel owners often are understanding about last-minute changes. Swahili owners, not so much. Remember, people often make 80% of their annual income during the brief high seasons in winter and summer. If you need to cut your trip short, please talk to us immediately and we'll see what we can do. But we ask that you make your choices thoughtfully and we'll work with you to do so.
Tipping is always voluntary, of course, but much appreciated: 10 - 20% is fine. If you have any questions, please ask your tour guide – and we'we're sure he would appreciate a tip, too!
